We all heard about the recent claims from SCO that “their” code was stolen and they want to be paid for it. Today their site has been defaced. Look, and laugh.

Welcome back, Perry! And good luck with getting your finger back in shape B)
Reading blogs on the Borland site, I stumbled upon a link to Inno Setup. The guy said “Inno Setup rocks!”, so I followed the link. Although I haven’t tried it yet, the feature list is impressive:
Especially when I add the line “Inno Setup is free!”.
You browse the internet, yes? You come across lots of PDF-files, yes? But everytime you want to view such a neat, portable, securable document, you are bugged by the Acrobat Reader. The splashscreen is there in a jiffy, but it takes forever to be able to view/browse the document.
There is a solution. This is not new, but I stumpled upon it just a couple of minutes ago. Read this and this page, if you want PDF to be something you like, instead of hate.
Another freebie, this time from Sybase. They are giving away the stripped version of ASE, hence the addition Express that we already know from Microsoft being a synonym for stripped-down-in-features. But only a Linux version. It has limitations to only address up to 2GB of RAM and 5GB of database-files.
At least give it a try, I think it’s a great database. Click here.

This weekend I started using the Bittorrent P2P network, with the Azureus client. I choose that client (there are a lot more clients, with more or with less functionality) because on several forums I read that it had the most functionality.
I must say, without having tested others, that the program is easy to use, looks good, has tons of features, and seems very stable. One of the most wanted features in a P2P client is the ability to limit available bandwidth. Azureus can limit the bandwidth in general, but also per torrent you make available. So you can limit popular (scarce availibity) downloads to a certain amount of kbyte/sec and leave the rest on umlimited (that obeys the connection-specification you entered, so 512kbyte/sec upload max if you said that your line is that fast).
What I need to get used to, is the inability to search for torrents via the client. But that’s the nature of Bittorrent: torrents are not stored on a central server. You don’t even logon on a central server.
I bought Bejeweled 2 Deluxe. I couldn’t resist it. Its license can be installed 5 times, so if you accidentally wipe your harddisk or like to install it on your laptop, you can do that. Cool.
My action hiscore is now 519450, my second place is 504500. I have to get a score of about 310000 to even get to the hiscore-list now.
One surprise, my girlfriend is addicted too. And she doesn’t even like games, so she says!
Update (20:49): Hiscore is now 798200 and I need to score above 360000 to get on the list.
If you’re into Java and you like Borland’s JBuilder, then you will be pleased to hear that they are giving away the Foundation edition of JBuilder 2005. You can either download the trial version of the Enterprise or Developer edition, and after 30 days either one will revert to the free Foundation version. Or you can download the Foundation version. For the Enterprise or Developer version you will need a BDN account, but that’s free as well. Click on the title to go to the download page. JBuilder has versions for Windows, Solaris, Linux and Mac.
Halo 2 is there. Unfortunately only on XBox. In the Netherlands, but I guess in other countries as well, Microsoft released a special Halo 2 pack: it’s the Crystal XBox (it’s transparant, hence its name), with 2 crystal controllers, Halo 2 and a two months trial subscription to XBox-live. All together for only 199,99. Click on the post-title to go to the Dutch site with details.
