Of course a SQL Server DBA does know nothing about Oracle, so let&#8217;s do the migration <a href=\"http:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/sql\/migration\/default.asp\">automated<\/a>. Thanks for pointing there, <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.msdn.com\/ericnel\/archive\/2005\/03\/29\/403213.aspx\">Eric<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Now I don&#8217;t want to start another Oracle vs. MS SQL Server war, but if your database (schema&#8217;s) can be ported to SQL Server, than you deserve SQL Server. Period.<\/p>\n<p>What about:<br \/>\n&#8211; Multiple master replication?<br \/>\n&#8211; More than 8GByte of memory without needing another OS?<br \/>\n&#8211; Flashback queries?<br \/>\n&#8211; Virtual Private Database?<br \/>\n&#8211; Stored java-procedures\/functions (.NET is on it&#8217;s way, earlier than SQL Server2005)<br \/>\n&#8211; External tables?<br \/>\n&#8211; More that 4GByte LOB&#8217;s? (Let&#8217;s store a SQL Server database in a BLOB!)<br \/>\n&#8211; Run on any OS besides Windows?<\/p>\n<p>Shall I continue? Whatever! An Oracle database convertable to SQL Server should have been just that in the first place.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Yeah right.
